Location
The Pisan hills is an area to which Orciano Pisano belongs. It is one of the ever decreasing number of rural areas left in Tuscany that has successfully remained untainted by large scale agritourism.Situated just a few kilometres from the sea, the area is characterised by rolling hillsides, rows of cypresses and wheat fields that take on different hues to match the changing seasons, never eliciting the same emotion twice from the beholder.
Orciano Pisano itself is a small hamlet of just 600 inhabitants. The local economy is based mostly on the production of cereals and wheat.
Description of buildings
Le Vedute is a residential complex that extends across a total surface area of more than 10,000 sqm and is located on an incline that affords wonderful views over the Orciano Pisano hills.The complex blends perfectly with the surrounding countryside, set against a terraced backdrop and uniting architectural experimentation with time-honoured tradition. Indeed, the complex provides extremely refined architectural and residential solutions, very far removed form an approach to design and construction that relies on prevailing or passing trends.
The complex comprises a total of 14 small villas, ranging in size from 80 sqm to 120 sqm, each sufficiently isolated form the other to ensure privacy, yet all well integrated with each other and with the surrounding environment.
The intention is to achieve a design that allows residents to look out from the ground floor towards the countryside - as if, indeed, the countryside were an extension of the building. In this way, the landscape becomes the stunning central feature of this, a form of architecture that is all about transparency, light and air.
STATE AND FINISHES
There are four types of villas available, all of which are variants of a single design: a home composed of two sections, which speak two opposite yet complementary languages - one for the daytime, the other for the night time.
The latter element reinterprets the local rural building traditions, as is clear from the choice of external finishes and, particularly, from the square, hayloft inspired roof and large open spaces screened off by brick 'grills' and enclosed by large windows.
In contract, the former element is profoundly modern in style. It is a white parallelogram, one side of which - the most panoramic side - is separated from the landscape outside by nothing but a large window. The design of this area is open plan, and accommodates all of the features of the daytime life of the house.

Outdoor space
In front of the large window of each of the villas, there is a hayloft with wooden floor, which can function almost as a second - and completely 'al aperto' - lounge.Further on, there is another space, this time with a stone floor, whereas the rest of the outdoor space is taken up with the garden, the fields and the trees.
The surrounding area also includes a public car park with play area.
